Chain of Puys

Puy de Sancy via Le Mont-Dore

The Muleteers' Path is the ancient route that led pilgrims to the temple of Mercury, god of travelers, merchants, and thieves. This large temple was an important place of worship for the Gallo-Romans. Its remains were discovered in 1872 during the construction of the observatory.

This hike can be challenging but is incredibly rewarding, as the summit offers a panoramic view of one-seventh of France. Between waterfalls and valleys, you'll have the opportunity to traverse the Chastreix Sancy nature reserve.
